Stay far away from the opposition — Ahmad Lai

MIRI: The people of Sibuti constituency have been urged to hold their guard up high because the opposition has started waging a psychology war to rubbish the government in view of the coming 13th general election.

Sibuti MP Ahmad Lai Bujang said the opposition was now moving around in villages and longhouses to win the peoples’ trust.

“The opposition is using various tactics to win the peoples’ heart even though they know that Sibuti is a BN stronghold,” he told The Borneo Post.

He hoped that the people would not be hoodwinked by the opposition’s propaganda and accusations that the BN government was unfair when it comes to development.

“There is no area that is left out in the government’s development programme, and all the accusations are baseless. They were churned by people who are jealous with the generosity of the government.”

He said all the issues highlighted by the opposition had been resolved by the government in stages, and the opposition was running out of idea.

“The opposition simply come and creates sensitive issues to anger the people. The people must reject the opposition.”

Ahmad Lai said he was glad to know that most of his constituents were aware of the games being played by the opposition when election was around the corner.

“Some of the people here even slammed their door closed at the opposition.”

He added that many rural folks remained strongly behind the BN.

“I would say effort by the opposition to change the people’s mind here has been a waste of time.”
